Far from being an unmitigated security disaster, the transition to cloud offers an incredible opportunity to actually improve your infrastructure security defenses. At least, assuming you understand how to configure and manage cloud infrastructure, which is more than a little different from traditional infrastructure. This technical workshop skips all the hand waving cloud generalities and digs in deep on the differences between cloud and traditional infrastructure, and how to properly redesign infrastructure applications to be secure in the cloud.

Securosis, the team that built the Cloud Security Alliance training program, will present practical examples from real deployments and extensive technical demonstrations. Attendees will learn:

    • How abstraction and automation affect common security controls.
    • How to design and manage secure cloud networks.
    • How to secure the cloud management plane.
    • How to implement automation to maintain security at the speed of the cloud.

3:00 PM - 3:15 PM: Zero Trust: Securing East-West Traffic In The Cloud (Sandeep Poonen, VMware)
On-site introspection and micro-segmentation innovations have already raised the bar for more effective and more scalable security. What if you could now easily extend that innovation to your cloud infrastructure? With new advanced networking delivered on vCloud Air, you can replicate your data center environment and extend the associated security control framework to your public cloud. You will be introduced to new innovations in hybrid networking and workload migrations, and leave with an understanding of how to minimize the security and compliance risks associated with extended cloud infrastructures.
