    Offensive security tools aren't just for the red teamers and penetration testers. Enterprise defenders can take advantage of the same tools and techniques to identify weaknesses in their networks and the humans contained within. Need to find your exposed vulnerabilities and get them fixed before the bad guys exploit them? Want to clean up the low-hanging fruit before a penetration test so you can focus on more realistic, targeted threat scenarios?

    This class is a hands-on immersion into offensive security techniques and tools including nmap, Metasploit, Arachni, and phishing frameworks developed to help you better secure your companies' resources. Participants will be provided a virtual machine pre-loaded with tools to use throughout the class. The focus will be on imparting practical skills that students will be able to apply immediately upon returning to work.

    Who Should Attend:
    Systems administrators, software/web developers, network engineers, and defensive security professionals who need to get up to speed on offensive security tools and want to understand how intruders leverage exploits and vulnerabilities that exist in networks, systems, and applications.

    Workshop Requirements:
    Students need to bring a laptop meeting the following requirements:

    • Current version of VMWare Player, Workstation, or Fusion
    • Minimum 4 GB RAM; 8 GB or more recommended
    • Minimum 20 GB free space on hard drive
    • Wired ethernet connection

    The virtual machine (VM) will be made available for download to registered students prior to Interop. The VM will also be available at the beginning of class via a limited number of flash drives. It is highly recommended that students download the VM and confirm it works properly on their laptops prior to class.
