Jim Bander is the National Manager for Decision Science in the Risk Management department at Toyota Financial Services. He was a key designer for the Collections Treatment Optimization project, an analytics effort which has enabled Toyota to make collections decisions more effectively and efficiently.Before joining TFS, Jim was vice president of an analytics software startup. He has also worked in the mortgage and transportation industries. He received his PhD in Operations Research from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and taught for several years in the Decision and Information Sciences (now IS/OM) department at the University of Florida's Warrington College of Business. Jim spends much of his non-work time as president of Power Paws Assistance Dogs, a charity that trains highly qualified service dogs to serve adults and children with disabilities.
