The term Software Defined Storage (SDS) has been making the rounds in the IT world. It is a new model, for defining storage systems based on how those systems are constructed, specifically using disaggregated hardware and software … or is it? SDS or as we call it Open Storage Platform originated with hyper-scale companies, web-facing enterprises that had a need for storage capacity at scale, that we have not seen before.

This session will explore what SDS or OSP really is and why and where it is being considering in the Enterprise Data Center. We will look at the pro's and con's for adoption and wrap up with some considerations for selection.

You'll learn the following about Software Defined Storage:
    • What it is
    • Who is adopting and why
    • What you should be considering when reviewing SDS products
