The concepts and promise of DevOps are relatively clear, and can be a compelling driver of innovation. But, there are a number of complexities related to technical adoption, process changes and organizational design that are important, and often misunderstood. In order to properly sponsor DevOps, all three areas need to be clarified and communicated. Sponsors are often left with a number of important questions: how much change will be needed? Can I attack DevOps in stages? What is my current, and target, level of maturity? How long will it take to get the desired benefits?

In this session, we will review a practical model for DevOps adoption, based on experiences from 5 different projects, across different industries. The model includes three frameworks: a maturity model for DevOps adoption, a process framework for DevOps usage, and a template for organizational change management. These, in combination, can be used to bring clarity to your DevOps goals and activate the right level of sponsorship needed to get the highest value.

These concepts will be presented independent of specific tools, although examples will include descriptions of the choices made for their needs, for clarify.
